President- Roslyn Thompson

Roslyn commenced her career in the Child Care Industry in 1979 and has worked continuously during this time in a variety of industry sectors including long day care, out of school hours care, inclusion support, education, management and more recently facilitation roles. She has worked in community based, government and private sectors and has represented a number of industry groups and committees in both Rural and Metropolitan Western Australia.

Roslyn is a co-owner of Early Learning Management Group (ELM) and operate 4 centres in both rural and metro areas. She has a strong commitment to improving the standard of training available to the industry and ensuring the knowledge on graduation is sound. She also believes in quality care and equitable work environments.

Formal qualifications include Children’s Services, Business Management and Training and Assessment.


Vice President-Rory Vassallo

Rory has been involved in the industry since 2003. He now owns and operates in excess of 20 centres across Western Australia with one in Queensland also. In 2005 he was elected to the CAWA committee and has been a sitting member since. In August 2006 he was elected treasurer of the Child Care Associations Australia. He is a past  Federal Delegate on the National Children’s Services Forum and West Australian Ministers Childcare Advisory Committee. In 2010 Rory was awarded a West Australian ‘Top 40 under 40’ entrepreneur.

Vice President-Evan Hicks


Evan along with his wife Allison has been in various businesses over the past 24 years including Byford Child Care for the past 16 years. Evan and Allison both have Diploma's in Child Care and are committed to child care in Western Australia. Evan has been a Commissioner for Declarations and has been pro active in Byford's evolution.

Treasurer-Kim Beange 
Kim holds a Bachelor of Business and is a CPA. She has worked in various industries, both here in Perth and overseas. As a working parent she became acutely aware of the childcare system and feels passionate about the provision of quality care. A new comer to the industry, Kim is committed to providing a high level of service in her centre, with a hands on personal approach. She is also eager to ensure the long term viability of the industry and as such has become involved with the Childcare Association of WA.

Secretary - Martin Lowell

Martin has Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Arts degrees.  He has worked for a large Utility Company for the past 10 years in various rolls, and more recently as a Director of his family’s company, which has owned Childcare Centres in WA for more than 17 years.

Committee-Rob Lawson

Committee-Angie West

Angie holds an Associate Diploma in Social Science and Cert IV in Out of School Care. She has been in the Industry for 18 years, including Long Day Care, Out of School Care, Inclusion Support and Facilitation. Co-Owner of Early Learning Management that currently operates 4 centres inclusive of OSC, the centres are located in the Pilbara, Goldfields, Midwest and Perth. Angie currently resides in the Midwest with her husband and three children.

Committee-Teresa Lawson

Teresa holds an Associate Diploma in Social Science of Child Care, Advanced Diploma in Children's Services and certificate lV Training and Assesment. Teresa has been involved with the industry for 20 years. Teresa operates 2 Long Day Care Centres with her partner.
